Irving Bigio, PhD

Dr. Bigio is the original inventor and patent holder for Elastic Scattering Spectroscopy. He is Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Boston University and one of the top spectroscopy researchers in the world. David Leffell, MD

He specializes in skin cancer and melanoma diagnosis and surgical treatment. The Cutaneous Oncology Unit that he founded in 1988 now performs specialized surgical treatment on more than 3,500 patients annually.

He holds a BA degree in Economics & Entrepreneurship in the Engineering track with Bioengineering focus from Brown University. He also received his MSc in Bioengineering from Brown and completed his graduate research at Stanford University.

Before building DermaSensor, Cody spearheaded the business development team for a Silicon Valley medical device screening startup. He also previously worked in business development and commercial strategy roles at Genentech. Cody’s achievements as a young entrepreneur led to him being featured in Forbes 30 under 30’s Healthcare category in 2017.

She has also worked across international markets, with executive experience at Coca-Cola within sales management and strategic marketing.
